Patriots star cornerback Malcolm Butler played zero defensive snaps during New England’s Super Bowl loss to the Eagles. The last minute benching caught everyone off guard.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapaport, Butler was benched due to several issues, including missing curfew because of a Rick Ross concert.
My understanding is the benching of Patriots CB Malcolm Butler happened because of a perfect storm of issues: Sickness, a rough week of practice, and a minor rule violation believed to be related to curfew. A complicated matter.

What a difference a few years makes. Butler went from Super Bowl hero a couple of years ago to zero defensive snaps.
Bill Belichick doesn’t play any of that stuff, let alone all of them together within a two week span.
