You read that right. The Tampa Bay Rays have asked for and received permission from Major League Baseball to explore becoming a two-city team. The other city, besides Tampa Bay, would be Montreal.
BREAKING: The Tampa Bay Rays have received MLB's permission to explore becoming two-city team: the Tampa Bay area and Montreal, sources tell ESPN. The plan: Play early-season home games in the Tampa Bay area and finish the season in Montreal. News at ESPN: https://t.co/X6uSt4KLfC

What, so they can play in half empty stadiums in two countries? Whoever came up with this idea should be banned from baseball.
Have an attendance problem in one city? How about if we split games with another city that lost a team partly because of poor attendance?
Brilliant, calling the MLB right now!
Granted there was a little more that went into the fall of the Expos, but in the end they couldn’t get fans to games.
So while it might provide an initial boost in attendance, fans will eventually lose interest when the Rays start to stink again, which they will do.
