ESPN put together a bizarre SportsCenter special where they allowed Magic Johnson to open the show by addressing his time with the Lakers, including recent reports that he mistreated employees during his time in Los Angeles.
Magic, of course, denied the allegations. He also revealed his biggest regret and that was not hiring his own people.
“I would’ve hired my own people from the beginning. The one thing I didn’t get to do is hire everybody that wanted. Rob and I got put together. I inherited Luke Walton, so I didn’t get to hire my own people.”
Magic Johnson discussed what he didn't get to do with the Lakers and what he would do differently with @stephenasmith and @RealMikeWilbon. pic.twitter.com/JnR7sQFCkP

Are we supposed to believe that if Pelinka and Walton weren’t there that a hobbled LeBron was going to be able to drag the Lakers into the playoffs?
Magic’s own people wouldn’t have been able to get them in the playoffs either. He might have had an easier time dealing with his own people and probably wouldn’t have quit, but where’s the entertainment in that?
