Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner is one of the names being thrown around as the trade deadline approaches. He was asked about that after starting Friday night’s extra innings game.
Bumgarner isn’t worried about any trade rumors. In fact, he doesn’t give a “sh*t” about the rumors. He’s focused on winning games for the Giants.
Bumgarner steamed through nine impressive innings Thursday night against the New York Mets, reminding suitors across the majors — and the Giants’ front office — of his abundant value. He allowed only one run but landed no decision, and the Giants ultimately won 3-2 in 16 innings on Donovan Solano’s bases-loaded single.
This was vintage Bumgarner in every way — dominant on the mound, vigorous in trying to stay in the game, blunt in answering questions. He was asked afterward if he’s less worried about the Giants trading him, given their recent surge.
“I don’t give a s—,” he said. “I’m here to win games for this team, and that’s what we’re doing.”
Bumgarner is the type of guy you want on your team. He’s going to give you all he has every time out.
