A formal announcement is expected as soon as this weekend, as Walton is meeting with Kings general manager Vlade Divac.
Walton mutually parted ways with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday after going 98-148 in his three seasons as head coach of the team. He still had two years remaining on his five-year deal.
Walton comes out great in this deal.
He gets paid by the Lakers for his two years remaining, and also gets another salary lined up.
What a career choice.
