Throughout the ups and downs of his rookie season, Lonzo Ball has kept an even keel, but it wasn’t until the trade rumors, that made him realize he better work hard while he’s on the Lakers.

Magic Johnson talked about the 20-year-old’s work ethic and determination behind closed doors.

“I just encourage him to get into the gym,’’ Magic added. “The gym takes care of all of the noise, all of that. And he did that.

“He just got in the gym and started working, working harder. And all the credit goes to him, whether we talk or not. I didn’t go to the gym at 12 o’clock at night. That was him.”
