Well-known sports writer and handicapper David Malinsky is missing after going on a hike over the weekend at Mount Charleston near Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Officer Aden Ocampo told Newsweek the department’s search and rescue team continued to look for Malinsky on Tuesday. Ocampo confirmed reports that Malinsky’s vehicle had been found near a trail.
Family said he had been missing since about 3 p.m. on Saturday.
According to KVVU-TV in Las Vegas officials from the fire department, Red Rock Search and Rescue, and others had helped the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in its search over the weekend, which focused on the North Loop trail area at Mount Charleston.
People close to Malinsky told local station KSNV-TV that he typically likes to hike and get off the grid during this time of year, since it is a slow period for him. Malinsky was only supposed to be on his hike for the day.
In the world of Las Vegas sports betting, Dave Malinsky is pretty much a household name, a writer and handicapper with a regular column at sportsbookreview.com. You want to believe gambling has nothing to do with this story.
