The Lakers have reached out to D’Angelo Russell’s agents to set up a meeting with the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, there is mutual interest in a reunion between the All-Star guard and Los Angeles.

With Kyrie Irving to the Nets an almost certainty at this point, Brooklyn is expected to rescind the qualifying offer they extended to Russell. That would free him up to sign elsewhere without any restrictions.
That doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a reunion with the Lakers in Russell’s future. Los Angeles has one max spot to fill and a few other players on their list above him.
