LaVar Ball’s master plan just hit a speed bump. The Los Angeles Lakers officially informed LiAngelo Ball late Thursday night that he will not be on their summer league team, sources close to the situation told ESPN.
The younger brother of Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball was not drafted after working out for the Lakers and Golden State Warriors but had been hoping to score a summer league invite from L.A.
Lakers officially informed LiAngelo Ball he will not be on their Summer League team last night. They were determined to make this a basketball decision but as one source put it, “obviously there’s more to it than basketball.” In other words— the LaVar effect was real.

I’m thinking back to Europe for LiAngelo, or he can try to put in the work in the G League, with the hopes of signing on with a team down the road. Now what will Lavar Ball do? Not sure he’ll be featured in any more commercials, but this was great.
Another Footlocker classic with new LiAngelo Ball "steal" commercial. 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/77enlGs7V1
