Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has donated his “Wizenard Series” books to NBA superstar LeBron James’ I Promise School.
“The Wizenard Series: Training Camp” is a fantasy book for young adults which features Wesley King as the author. Bryant created the almost-600 page book shortly after he retired from the NBA three years ago.

The plot revolves around an inner-city basketball team, the West Bottom Badgers. The five players are Rain, Twig, Cash, Lab, and Peno. Their head coach is wizard Rolabi Wizenard. According to Sports Illustrated’s Jonathan Jones, Bryant’s Granity Studios intends to publish five young adults books within the next two years.
Bryant admitted to Jones in a March 2019 interview Wizenard, the coach, is more of Phil Jackson, his former mentor with the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant also said Wizenard is also part Bill Russell, Tex Winter, and his high school coach, Gregg Downer.
I Promise School, a public school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, in July 2018. The school opened with 240 third and fourth graders that month. It expanded to the second and fifth grades this year. The school should cater to the first to eighth grades by 2022, per USA TODAY’s Jeff Zillgitt.
Pretty sweet assist by Kobe.
