Lakers legend Kobe Bryant sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Mike Greenberg and he was asked about basketball’s greatest debate, who is the NBA’s GOAT?

According to Kobe, he doesn’t care about the debate at all.  He says his career is over and he’s moved on.

“It’s hard for people to believe, but I really don’t care.  I’ve moved on.  You have a career, you do the best you can for the 20 years, I was fortunate to play and then you shelf it.  You’re done, you move on to the next thing.  Now I’m focused on these next 20 years.”

“Those debates are entertaining, I’m sure it’s fun for people to engage on those, but for me personally, it doesn’t matter.”

We’re not buying it.  Kobe doesn’t want to give an answer, because he doesn’t want to deal with the follow up questions.  By saying he doesn’t care it wipes his hands clean of any further discussion on the subject.

As competitive as Kobe was during his career, he has to believe he is the GOAT and he’s wrong.  It’s not between Kobe and Michael Jordan.  It’s not even between LeBron and MJ.

If you’re going to have this debate, it should be between Jordan and a guy like Bill Russell.  I’d give it to Jordan, but that’s probably because I grew up watching him.
