Texas Rangers shortstop Jurickson Profar was cleated and stepped on by Astros Yuli Gurriel on a play at second base over the weekend. The cleat caught him in the face and then the back of his head was stepped on.
Profar got checked out and went back into the game with a band-aid on his face. He is lucky that the cleat didn’t get caught in the eye.
Expect the soft baseball analysts and MLB front office people to call for a change to softer cleats. There can never be any injury of any kind ever. Protective bubbles and netting for everyone!
