Johnny Manziel’s CFL career got off to a rough start. His first pass as a member of the Montreal Allouttes was intercepted.
Manziel would throw a total of four interceptions, all in the first half. The Allouttes lost the game 50-11 to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Johnny Football still has some rust to shake of. He finished the game 11 out of 20 for 104 yards, with four interceptions.
After the game Manziel spoke to the media and called his rough start a humbling experience, via ESPN:
“I felt I just made some uncharacteristic plays today, and you know, this game is humbling,” Manziel said afterward. “This is a humbling experience. I’ve had this experience in the past before, and there’s two ways you either go about this moving forward. One, you can let this get you down and sulk … and harm you moving forward. The other way is to just take this on the chin like a man and never allow this taste to creep back in your mouth again and never let this happen again.”
It makes sense that Manziel would be a little rusty. It also makes sense that he would try to do too much and make mistakes forcing throws. All he can do is learn from it and make better decisions next time.
