Former first round draft pick Johnny Manziel is returning to professional football. The former Browns QB signed a two year deal with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Manziel made the announcement on Twitter.
Made the decision today to sign my contract with the CFL and further my football career after a long break. Very grateful for everyone that’s been supporting me along the way. I believe this is the best opportunity for me moving forward and I’m eager for what the future holds.

The Tiger-Cats first game is scheduled for June 16 against the Calgary Stampeders. Barstool Sports posted a video of Manziel talking about his return.
“Getting back to playing ball, that’s what it comes down to. It’s something that I miss doing. Big day for me. I’m no longer unemployed, getting back to what I love to do, and I’m happy about it.”
