On Thursday news broke that 76ers big man Joel Embiid would need surgery to repair an orbital fracture.  The injury occurred on Wednesday after a collision with his teammate Markelle Fultz.

Embiid was slow to get up and made A trip to the hospital where he was diagnosed with an orbital fracture and a concussion.  He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.

Via ESPN:

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid suffered an orbital fracture that will require surgery and he also has a concussion, the Sixers said Thursday.

Surgery to address the orbital fracture in his left eye will be performed in the coming days, the team said.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported that, pending the results of the surgery, Embiid could return in two to four weeks. The 76ers have clinched a spot in the playoffs, which begin April 14.

Despite the injuries, Embiid is still trusting the process.  He took to social media to share his message.

I guess I gotta trust “The Process” that I’ve been preaching… Unfortunate freak accident but I’ll be more than fine. Injuries jokes coming in 3,2,1 #TheProcess #Two-Face

It would be a shame if the process finally got the Sixers into the playoffs and Embiid had to miss it because of a freak accident with a teammate.  It’s no baseball injury, but it’s close.
