As much as I don’t want to see (Jamal) Adams go, what if the Jets can get Dallas to give them a 1st and a 3rd and (WR Michael) Gallup? — Edwin
Jamal Adams trade talk is popular these days, but I don’t see the Jets trading Adams any time soon. Could things change if the contract standoff gets ugly during training camp? Yes. But I don’t think he will be traded before August and I think the trade deadline is an even more realistic time to point to.
The Jets are still hopeful to extend Adams. They just want to do it on their timeline, which sounds like 2021. If things get really ugly and Adams demands a trade or irks management with a holdout, then I think the trade you propose is something the Jets should do. I doubt the Cowboys would give that much up, though. Gallup would walk in as the best receiver on the Jets. I think it is more likely that the Jets would get the first and the third and not the player also.
It’s all about getting paid. If that can happen in New York, Adams will likely stay put and wait it out.
