New York Jets linebacker Dylan Donahue was arrested and charged with DWI and reckless driving after causing a wrong-way car crash at the Lincoln Tunnel in the early hours of Monday morning.
From the NY Post,
Dylan Donahue had a blood-alcohol level of .15 — nearly twice the legal limit — when he collided with the vehicle in the center, New Jersey-bound tube just before 2 a.m., sources said.A Port Authority cop witnessed Donahue, who was behind the wheel of a green Dodge Charger Hellcat, weave through traffic cones on the Jersey side and into the center tube against westbound traffic, according to PA spokesman Joe Pentangelo. The driver’s and passenger side airbags of the Charger were set off by the impact of the crash, which left the vehicle’s front-end completely smashed in.The 6-3, 248-pound athlete, who was the Jets’ fifth-round pick in the 2017 draft, failed sobriety and breathalyzer tests. He boasted about his position as a backup and special teams player during his arrest.“He’s telling them that he plays for the Jets,” a law enforcement source said.
“We are aware of the situation,” a Jets spokesman said. “This is a pending legal matter and we will have no further comment.”
This is what the NFL off-season is all about. Back-to-back five-win seasons for the JETS, and they haven’t been to the Playoffs since 2010. Might be time for a change in leadership.
