Chicago Cubs infielder Javy Baez stole second base against the White Sox despite the throw beating him to the bag by a mile. He tried to catch the crosstown rivals napping and they were more than ready for Baez’s delayed steal attempt.
If it wasn’t for a last second swim move by Baez, he would have been toast. And what a swim move it was. It was almost as impressive as his world famous tagging ability.
This shouldn’t count as a stolen base against the catcher. He made a perfect throw and should have had another one in his caught stealing column. This is a stolen base on the shortstop.
