According to the incident report, Dareus was pulled over just before 2 a.m. on Atlantic Boulevard for speeding. An officer wrote in the report that the vehicle was going about 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The officer noted that a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, and a search turned up two joints and a marijuana grinder, the report shows.
The team on Friday released a statement on the incident, saying, “The Jaguars are aware of a citation involving DT Marcell Dareus. The matter will be handled internally.”
Hopefully the NFL stays out of it. They might overreact and suspend Dareus indefinitely.
