Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom finished the season with a 10-9 record despite an unbelievable 1.70 ERA and 269 strikeouts. He had an incredible season on a terrible team.

If deGrom had any kind of run support he would have been at least a 20 game winner and with decent run support he could have finished 30-0. Those facts just underscore how out of his mind he pitched this season.

I, unlike the nerds who have ruined baseball, still believe wins matter for a starting pitcher. However, deGrom had almost no run support and the fact that he could have been a 20 game winner with just two runs a game of run support should be taken into account.
