UFC fighter Angela Hill needs to find a new challenger for UFC Mexico City on September 21st, since her opponent-to-be, Istela Nunes got removed from the fight due to a positive drug test.
Nunes (7-1, 1 no contest), who signed with UFC just this year, claims it’s the first time she’s failed a drug test. Some speculate it may be due to sports supplements tainted with SARMs, as was the case for another Brazilian fighter, Melissa Gatto, just a few months ago. But it’s still unclear what Nunes tested positive for.
Nunes is an The American Top Team fighter, and has only been defeated once by previous ONE champion Angela Lee in the spring of 2017. Her last fight took place in July 2018, when she scored a decision win over Gina Iniong in mainland China.
This was first confirmed by sources speaking to MMA Fighting, following a report by Combate. Istela Nunes is yet to make a public announcement regarding her failed drug test.
