John Tavares left the Islanders, the team that drafted him with the first overall pick back in 2009, last summer and signed a 7-year, $77 million deal with the Maple Leafs.
The move did not sit well with Islanders fans and on Thursday night they let Tavares know exactly how they feel. He was met with boos and rubber snakes during warm-ups.
When he wrapped up his warm-up, a fan threw a jersey at him as he made his way back to the locker room.

It’s going to be a long night for the 28-year-old NHL star. Despite the night of hate he’s receiving, Tavares will be just fine. He has 77 million reasons to sleep well at night.
