Former Islanders number one pick John Tavares turned down the opportunity to sign an 8 year deal with the team and officially became a free agent on Sunday.
Islander fans didn’t wait around to see how the Tavares free agency plays out. They started burning his jersey immediately.

It turns out they new exactly what they were doing. Tavares signed a seven year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
