Former NBA player and current youth basketball coach, Isaiah Rider, allegedly threatened to get his gun from his car at a youth basketball tournament in Arizona. The police were called and according to their report, Rider’s wife Vanessa was involved in a fight with another woman and at some point Rider threatened to get his gun.
Isaiah left the gym, but never returned and did not pull a gun. Despite the police being called nobody ended up getting arrested as a result of the altercation.
Via TMZ Sports:
Cops responded to the tournament over reports of parents fighting — and when they got there, they spoke with Isaiah’s wife, Vanessa … who said she had been attacked by another woman for “no viable reason.”
Vanessa Rider also claimed her 9-year-old son was physically assaulted by an older boy and injured during the altercation.
When cops arrived, they found the other woman … but she told a completely different story.
The woman claims her son’s team had defeated the SkyRiders so Vanessa was bitter — with Vanessa calling her a “bitch” and trying to swing at her.
It just goes to show you that no matter where you are and who is attending the event, youth sports can bring out the worst in people. People are talking about getting their guns at a basketball tournament for 9-year-olds. What is going on?
Take a step back and think about what you’re actually fighting about. No 9-year-old is on the verge of signing an NBA contract or getting a shoe deal. Let them be 9 and have fun playing a game they enjoy.
