Chris McCain signed with Indianapolis in May. Then Tuesday, he was charged with two counts of battery for an incident in January where he is accused of forcibly grabbing a woman’s neck and spitting on her.
It’s a charge he denies.
“She is lying,” McCain told the Indianapolis Star.
McCain signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Colts May 8th. He originally signed with the Chargers for one year and $1.907 million as a restricted free agent. However, Los Angeles rescinded their offer in April.
Several outlets are reporting the Chargers knew of the incident when they pulled their offer.
If McCain is convicted of the charges, he faces up to six months in prison in addition to fines and possible probation.
The Colts released a statement Tuesday in response to the charges.

It wouldn’t be the NFL offseason without a few charges and several arrests.
