On Wednesday afternoon news that the Packers were shopping receiver Randall Cobb caused some online ripples. The rumor was started by The Ringer’s Mike Lombardi, who made the announcement on his podcast.
Via Packers Wire:
According to Mike Lombardi of The Ringer, the Packers might be looking to move Cobb, the veteran slot receiver who is entering the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal.
“I know (Cobb’s) being shopped around,” Lombardi said on his podcast
Later on in the evening NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport called out the Ringer on Twitter and said the Packers are not shopping Cobb.
The only reason they would be shopping him is if they really wanted to piss off Aaron Rodgers. They already let his favorite receiver go.
Saw this referenced on @ringer. It’s normal for teams to inquire about players entering the last year of their contract. I know of some that checked on Randall Cobb. But the #Packers are not shopping him & expect him contributing on their team. https://t.co/A489Swjael

A bit of a slap in the face, although with a white glove not a hand. Nothing like members of the media taking shots at each other on social media.
