Chicago Cubs second baseman Ian Happ got the 2018 season started with a homerun on the very first pitch. A sign of things to come for the 2018 MLB season.
Expect a ton of homeruns at the Major League level with the juiced balls and launch angles. The ball will be flying out of parks all over the country (and Toronto) like they do in beer league softball games.

Adding to the fun was a Cubs reporter who said he was going to jump into Lake Michigan if Ian Happ hit a homerun to leadoff the game. His name is Michael Cerami and after the homer he kept his promise.
If Ian Happ leads off today's game with a home run, I will jump in Lake Michigan later today.

Well, that's not an Opening Day I'll forget anytime soon. It's gonna be a great year. #CubsWin #EverybodyIn

Don’t ever tempt the baseball gods or you might just be jumping into a lake if you do. Baseball is back and it wasted no time in announcing its return with authority.
