On Thursday afternoon Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced that Kevin Durant will not play in Game 4 as the team had hoped.
Kerr also announced that KD did not participate in a scrimmage as planned, because doctors have determined he wasn’t ready to make the next step in his recovery.

Meanwhile, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara started Game 5. Just two days after breaking his jaw in Game 4 when he took a puck to the face.
The fact that KD has missed weeks with a strained calf, while Chara didn’t miss a single game with his broken jaw wasn’t lost on hockey fans on Twitter, and they roasted him for it.
Zdeno Chara is playing game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final with a broken jaw… @NBA players, take notes. #BecauseItsTheCup

I’m not saying Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson should play, but Zdeno Chara is playing tonight with a broken jaw. In a more physical and violent sport than basketball. pic.twitter.com/EFhMsZMl0G

Kevin Durant- strained calf (non-contact injury): OUT x 9 games
Klay Thompson- strained hamstring (non-contact injury): OUT x1-2 games
Zdeno Chara- broken jaw (hockey puck to face): IN (0 games missed)#sports

At this point there’s no way Durant just has a strained calf is there? You have to believe it’s a more significant injury and he’ll likely not play at all in The Finals.
