Miami Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill grabbed the No. 1 spot in the NFL Top 100 rankings Friday, beating out Lamar Jackson, Christian McCaffrey, and Patrick Mahomes in surprising fashion to top this year’s player-voted list.

Hill led the NFL with 1,799 yards and 13 touchdown catches in 16 games last year. He also caught 119 passes. The 30-year-old flirted with breaking the single-season receiving yards record (1,964), but injuries slowed him down in the campaign’s final stretch. He’s the first receiver ever to claim the top spot in the NFL Top 100’s 14-year history.

Hill’s spectacular season wasn’t enough for him to win Offensive Player of the Year, though, as McCaffrey earned the honor.

Jackson helped Baltimore finish the 2023 season with the NFL’s best record. The two-time MVP accounted for 29 touchdowns (24 passing) against just seven interceptions. However, the Jackson-led Ravens fell short against Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game.

The biggest surprise on this year’s list might be Mahomes at No. 4. The superstar quarterback – who’s been ranked No. 1 in the NFL Top 100 twice in his career – passed for 4,183 yards and 27 touchdowns last season, down from an NFL-high 5,250 yards and 41 scores in 2022. Despite that, Mahomes stepped up in the playoffs to help the Chiefs win their second consecutive Super Bowl title. He was named Super Bowl MVP for a third time.

Kansas City’s most recent championship campaign included playoff wins over the three players ranked ahead of Mahomes in the Top 100. The Chiefs beat the Dolphins in the wild-card round, the Ravens in the AFC title game, and ultimately the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

Cleveland Browns star and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett rounded out the top five as the highest-ranked defensive player on the list. The league announced its top 10, which featured three Chiefs players, on Friday.

The top 10 includes only two players from the NFC: McCaffrey and teammate Trent Williams. It also features four defenders: Garrett, All-Pro lineman Chris Jones, 2021 DPOY T.J. Watt, and All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
