The gunfire erupted at Center Point High School with about five minutes left to go in the game against Mortimer Jordan High School. Center Point principal Van Phillips said he was standing in the north end zone when multiple shots rang out nearby.
“It was coming from the wood, but on the other side, on 27th Street we have confirmed,’’ Phillips said. “The PA announcer told everyone to get to the lowest point and remain calm.”
