Back in November of 2018 Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith suffered a gruesome broken leg against the Houston Texans. He reportedly underwent 17 surgeries and battled an infection as the leg healed.
On Monday a gruesome picture of Smith’s ankle surfaced and it shows just how close he came to losing his leg. The picture was taken four days after he broke the leg and you can see the infection already setting in.
Smith hasn’t been able to play since suffering the injury, although he’s repeatedly said he wants to play again. The picture surfaced just days before a documentary on Smith is set to air.
The documentary “Project 11” will air on ESPN on May 1st at 7 pm.
