Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich’s wife of four decades, Erin, passed away earlier on Wednesday. The team released a statement about her passing
“With deep regret the San Antonio Spurs announce that Erin Popovich, wife of Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich, passed away earlier today. Erin and Gregg were married for four decades and were blessed with two children and two grandchildren.”
There’s no official word on how she died, but Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that she had been “ill for an extended period of time.”

Obviously the thoughts are with Pop and his family at this time. There’s no word, at this time, on whether or not he’ll coach the Spurs on Thursday or the rest of the playoffs.
