Giancarlo Stanton hit his 300th home run on Thursday night to give the Yankees an early 2-1 lead over the Tigers. After the homer he received his first curtain call in a Yankees uniform.
It’s a much different experience for Stanton than earlier in the season when fans were booing him for striking out four times in a game.

The Yankees would lose the game in the 9th inning 8-7 when Dellin Betances gave up 3 earned runs. They’re 8.5 games out of first place in the AL East and running out of time.
The Yankees will likely have to survive a one game playoff if they want to a deep postseason run.
