Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole, who is an Orange County native, paid his respects to Junior College Baseball coach John Altobelli. He attended Tuesday night’s by Orange Coast College game.
Altobelli, who died in the helicopter crash with Kobe Bryant, was the Orange Coast College’s head coach. Tuesday night’s game was their first game of the season.

Cole never played for Altobelli and didn’t even know him. He did play in the Pac-12 with UCLA at the same time Altobelli’s son J.J. played at Oregon.
