Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy stays in the NFC South and signs a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers.  The one-year deal is reportedly worth up $10.25 million with a $4 million signing bonus.

McCoy was also in talks with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, but ultimately decided to sign with the Panthers due to the fact that he gets to play against the Bucs two times next season.

The recruiting pitch from quarterback Cam Newton reportedly also played a role in his decision to become a Panther.  It should make for a fun couple of matchups against his former team.
