Payton, nicknamed The Glove, was the reigning Defensive Player of the Year when the Seattle Supersonics took on the Bulls in the 1996 NBA Finals, with the point guard getting his side back into the series when he went one-on-one with MJ, though the Bulls ultimately won 4-2.
Interviewed on the documentary, Payton claimed the Sonics could have won had he been unleashed against Jordan sooner, saying his aggressive defending ‘took its toll’ on MJ.

Asked what his reaction was when he saw Jordan laughing at him, Payton told The Opinionated Podcast: ‘Oh you know I was hot! I was thinking about calling him at the time!
