Kenny Britt, the former NFL wide receiver who starred at Bayonne High and Rutgers University, was arrested in Bayonne Saturday afternoon on drug charges after a traffic stop, authorities said.
The 31-year-old, who caught 68 passes in 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams in his best season, was driving a 2019 Rambler truck when he was pulled over by Bayonne police at 33rd Street and Kennedy Boulevard, Bayonne Capt. Eric Amato said.
Officers approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of raw marijuana from inside the vehicle. Police searching the truck recovered marijuana in an amount less than 50 grams, Amato said.
Britt was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less and he was also issued summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and obstructing passage of other motor vehicles, Amato said.
Can’t a guy smoke a little weed and drive? It sounds like Britt is just trying to enjoy his life after football.
