Pete Rose was banned from baseball for betting on games as a manager, but that wasn’t his only sin against the game. It has been long rumored that the Major League leader in hits also corked his bat over his playing career.
Now someone is stepping forward to confirm those rumors. He was a groundskeeper for the Expos during Rose’s season in Montreal in 1984 and says he had his bat corked regularly throughout the season.
He also claims Rose never got caught because he was a singles hitter and nobody was looking for a corked bat from a singles hitter.
