The Egg Bowl between Mississippi State and Ole Miss took place on Thursday night and wasn’t exactly in the spirit of the holiday it was played on. With Mississippi State up big at the end of the third quarter things got heated.
Ole Miss ran a play with zeroes on the clock and it ended it what appeared to be a touchdown pass. Immediately after the play a huge bench clearing brawl broke out. The play resulted in four players being ejected and every player on both teams receiving an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
When the officials reviewed the brawl to determine who should be punished for the brawl, they noticed the play took place after the third quarter game clock had expired and took Ole Miss’ touchdown off of the board.

After play resumed, it was more of the same Mississippi State dominance. The Bulldogs kept the Ole Miss out of the end zone the remainder of the game and walked away with a 35-3 Egg Bowl victory.
