Aaron Donald put to bed any concern that he could retire after a brief Twitter bio change caused a stir on social media last Sunday.
The Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle tweeted Wednesday that he’ll play in 2023. Speculation over Donald’s future ran wild Sunday after he changed his Twitter bio to read “former NFL D Linemen for the Rams” before he updated it back shortly after.
One season after helping the Rams win a Super Bowl, Donald’s 2022 campaign was cut short after 11 games due to an ankle injury. He wasn’t the only L.A. player to end the season on the shelf, with Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford also unable to finish the year as the Rams ended the campaign with a disappointing 5-12 record.
The nine-time Pro Bowler is under contract through 2024. He’s set to earn a base salary of $13.5 million in 2023 and holds a cap hit of $26 million, per Spotrac.
Donald recorded just five sacks this season, ending a five-year streak of 10-plus sacks.
