Relief pitcher Kenley Jansen and his team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, advanced to the World Series this past weekend. 

But as The Blast has reported, the athlete has been fighting a personal battle with his baby mama, Candace Cotton, over their daughter.

Legal papers obtained by the outlet show that Jansen, 31, has asked a judge in L.A. to award him legal custody of his girl Natalia, 5.

Jansen claimed in the documents that Cotton doesn’t want their daughter to be vaccinated and he fears for her health.

The papers contend that Cotton is “adamantly opposed to Natalia being vaccinated and has sought to avoid their administration by lobbying (her doctor), making unsupported medical claims, and simply dragging her feet.”

Some believe vaccinations are unsafe for kids, while others are adamantly opposed to skipping the shots.

California is one state that has set strict rules on vaccination.

Jansen, who pitched in the Dodgers October 20 game that sent the team into the World Series for a second straight year, told the court about his daughter, “First she is well behind in terms of vaccinations for a normal child and is at risk of contracting the numerous dangerous diseases she should be protected against,” adding, “And she is now in school, her risk of exposure is greatly increased as well as the risk that she will expose other children to any of these diseases.”

The athlete also has worried in the legal docs about the lack of vaccines being a danger to his and Cotton’s other child, a newborn baby.

A judge hasn’t yet ruled on his request for legal custody. Hopefully he can put this aside while he and the Dodgers try to win their first World Series since 1988.
