With just over nine seconds on the game clock and a Clippers win in the bag, Doc Rivers used a timeout to give Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki a standing ovation.
Rivers called the timeout, grabbed the microphone to ask the crowd to recognize the 41-year-old Mavs big man. He then led the standing ovation.
Dirk uncomfortably accepted the Staples Center crowd’s applause before the final seconds ran off the clock in what is likely his last game in Los Angeles.

Farewell tours in sports can be a little ridiculous, especially in baseball with all of the pregame ceremonies to hand out gifts. This was a much cooler moment than any of those.
More of this and less with the ceremonial gift giving.
