On Saturday news broke that NBA star Kristaps Porzingis was being investigated for an alleged rape that took place last year on the very same day he tore his ACL. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Mavericks knew about the allegations against the seven footer when they made the trade for him back in February.
On the February trade call to finalize the Dallas-New York deal, the Knicks informed the Mavericks of the pending rape allegation against Kristaps Porzingis, league sources tell ESPN. The league office had been previously made aware of the allegations.

What isn’t know is if the Mavericks or the Knicks knew about the details of the alleged attack. According to TMZ Sports, Porzingis is accused of pinning the woman down on a bed in his guest room, penetrating her, slapping her, spitting on her and calling her his slave.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the alleged victim told cops Porzingis pinned her down on a bed in his guest room, penetrated her vagina with his penis and then got violent.
The woman told cops he hit her in the face several times, spit on her, called her “my bitch” and “my slave” and said he owned her. We’re told the accuser claims he stopped assaulting her as she was putting up a fight.
Those are disturbing facts if true. Porzingis’ attorney released a statement that denied the allegations and called it an extortion attempt.
That is always something to consider when a wealthy person is accused of these types of crimes. It’s unfortunate, but true in this day and age.
We’ll have to wait until all of the facts are on the table before deciding if one of the NBA’s young stars is a guilty man.
