On Saturday reports that the Yankees had offered free agent Manny Machado a seven or eight year deal for $220 million surfaced. It created a ton of buzz and momentarily heated up the MLB’s hot stove.

The original tweet, which credited former GM and baseball analyst Jim Duquette, has since been deleted. Duquette then took to Twitter and put out the hot stove by saying he wasn’t reporting on a deal. He was just speculating on a rumor.
To clarify a report out there attributed to me, I was only speculating about a recent rumor that I had heard, not “reporting it as fact” .

That doesn’t mean there isn’t a deal on the table for Machado from the Yankees. But it does mean there isn’t a confirmed deal on the table.
Just a guy speculating on a rumor.
