Tim Tebow was sent down to the Mets minor league spring training camp on Tuesday. The Mets had seen enough of him hitting sheds in batting practice and then striking out in games.
The former NFL quarterback hit .065 and struckout 11 times in 19 plate appearances. Now he can focus on hitting in the low .200s against minor league pitching.
Great job Mets! You absolutely wasted a roster spot on Tebow. He played as well as a guy who couldn’t cut it as a quarterback in the NFL.
Tim Tebow is among the Mets' first wave of roster cuts. He hit .056 in Grapefruit League play, with 11 strikeouts in 19 plate appearances. Of course, the Mets can still borrow Tebow from minor league camp, as they did often last year.
