On this day 30-years ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 1 of the World Series against the Oakland A’s, when an injured Kirk Gibson hit a walk-off home run off of Dennis Eckersley.
The Dodgers would ride the momentum of the big homer to win the series over the heavily favored A’s in five games.

Eckersley remembered the anniversary of the iconic homer by sending a congratulatory Tweet to Gibson and baseball.
Happy 30th Anniversary @23KGibby! Great moment for you and baseball.

Eckersley is a better guy than I am. Sure it was a very memorable moment for the game of baseball. But if I’m the guy who gave up this home run, I’m never talking about it again.
