Houston Texans receiver Demaryius Thomas plead guilty to careless driving charges. The charges stem from a single vehicle crash in Denver back in February.
The plea helps Thomas avoid additional charges of vehicular assault, reckless driving, and not having proof of insurance. He was sentenced to probation and 50 hours of community service.
“Many people reached out after my accident and I want to thank everyone who has been supportive of my recovery,” Thomas said in a statement.
“It was important for me to accept responsibility for my careless driving. I personally promise I will never again put anyone at risk with that type of driving going forward.”
It’s never a good sign when there’s a single vehicle accident. Thomas can expect the NFL to hand down some additional punishment.
What that punishment will be is anyone’s guess. They kind of make it up as they go along.
