Former Red Sox DH David Ortiz was flown from the Dominican Republic to Boston on Monday night to receive further treatment for the injuries he suffered in a shooting.
Ortiz was shot in the back at a bar reportedly by hired gun men who were paid by a drug lord to kill him for an alleged affair with the drug lord’s wife.
After arriving in Boston, Big Papi received a police escort to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Red Sox president Sam Kennedy told the media on Monday that Ortiz was still in serious condition. It’s a good thing that he’s back in the states for his continued care.
