Free agent second baseman Daniel Murphy signed a two-year $24 million deal with the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. The 34-year-old is coming off of a down year in home runs, hitting only 12 with the Nationals and Cubs last season after missing games recovering from knee surgery.
What better way to get back to his 2016 and 2017 home run totals than to play in Colorado? Murphy is also expected to move over to first base from second, where he played the majority of time with the Nationals.
This could be a big signing for the Rockies if he gets anywhere close to the swing he had his first two seasons in Washington.
