Cubs third baseman David Bote’s spring isn’t off to a great start. In the second inning of Saturday’s game against the Giants, he took a Madison Bumgarner pitch off of the helmet.
The pitch off of the helmet dropped Bote to a knee. He was removed from the game and able to walk off the field under his own power.
Bote was just hit in the back of the helmet (at least that's what it sounded like) on an 0-2 pitch from Bumgarner. He's down on one knee being checked out. Now walks off the field with trainer Matt Johnson and Maddon.

Hopefully they removed Bote for precautionary reasons because it was a Spring Training game. You hate to see a guy get hurt this early in the spring.
